Climate change holdouts might face prosecution Businesses and governments who put us in this position may face retrospective prosecution DarkOptimism The Polluters Pay NGO, founded in 2010, has long been lobbying for the leaders of those nations which did not fully ratify the 2010 Climate Accord to be brought to trial for crimes against humanity. They have not had any explicit successes as yet, but there is no doubt that having such a well-funded organisation featuring many prominent climate scientists as members in the background has weighed heavily on the minds of climate negotiators over the past decade. They have announced this week that they are widening their campaign to target the heads of businesses legal and illegal which do not live up to our collective environmental responsibilities and will be working more closely with governmental environmental agencies and even law enforcement to push forward their agenda. In their press release Polluters Pay spokesman Stefan Yutreen quoted Albert Einstein s comment that all our lauded technological progress – our very Civilisation – has become like the axe in the hand of the pathological criminal and asserted that these criminals will be brought to justice.
